DJ driving license
The DJ driving license is a certificate of competence introduced by the Federal Association of German Discotheques and Dance Companies . The introduction took place in cooperation with the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety , the professional association Discjockey and the Techniker Krankenkasse .
This nationwide valid ID has been given to disc jockeys since December 2005 . The background is the high level of noise in discos and dance bars. Statistics show that club visits now take an average of five hours, compared to two and a half hours in the early 1980s. The noise exposure can lead to serious hearing damage. The hearing-damaging range starts at around 85 dB , but in some discos it can be up to 110 dB.
The DJ driving license can be acquired for a fee in special seminars in which the health hazards caused by loud music are explained, but also acoustic-technical aspects and liability facts are conveyed. Such a seminar concludes with a written test. By the beginning of 2010, almost 2,500 disc jockeys had already acquired a DJ license and more and more discotheque operators are now only employing DJs who have the appropriate certification.
