DJ Magic Mike

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

DJ Magic Mike (* 1. January 1974 in Orlando , Florida ; actually Michael Hampton ) is an American Miami Bass - music producer .

biography

DJ Magic Mike came to Miami Bass when he met Prime Time Crew producer Rod Whitehead in 1986 . He then took his demo version of Drop the Bass to a meeting with Rod and the label executives at Suntown Records . Those involved liked this. Rod Whitehead then wanted to win him over as a DJ and producer for his upcoming projects on the Miami-based label Suntown Records. But when Magic Mike examined the offer from Suntown Records, he turned it down after careful consideration, and so the project that had already started remained unfinished.

In 1988 he joined Clay D instead and helped him with the production of his album. When Mike felt betrayed and felt underpaid, he returned to Orlando, where he joined the newly formed label Cheetah Records . In 1989 DJ Magic Mike released his first release together with the Royal Posse, which sold a total of over 1 million times. A year later, he released his first own album entitled Bass Is The Name Of The Game on Cheetah Records . This album is now considered to be the first instrumental release that could achieve gold status as such.

Because of his 14 albums on the account, all of which were successful with very few exceptions, and four of which went gold or platinum in the USA , DJ Magic Mike is referred to by critics as a pioneer of bass and occasionally referred to as the King of Bass.

On December 11, 2007, the bass pioneer released his new album in mp3 format, which consists of two audio DVDs and a total of eight complete albums from earlier times.
