DJ Manon (* 1970 as Manon Maeder in Bern ) is a Swiss DJ and music producer and is considered one of the pioneers of electronic music in Switzerland .

biography

Manon made her first steps into the music world at the age of 7 when she bought records with the money she saved. Music became the central point in Manon's life. She made her first appearance at the age of 15 in Burgdorf .

During her training in the hospitality industry, Manon discovered the first illegal parties in 1989 in the " Dampfzentrale " and the "Bluelight" in Bern, which sparked her passion for electronic music . The founders of "Bluelight" opened one of the first house and techno locations in Switzerland, the "Aare Bar" in Bern , where Manon took over the management of the bar for a year.

In 1993 Manon decided to move to Zurich for professional and private reasons . At that time, the city was considered the hub of electronic music in Switzerland.

Her job in a record store and her participation in the legendary after- hour parties at “Oxa” Zurich and “Tarot Club Grodoonia” Rümlang were ultimately decisive for the decision to turn her hobby into a profession. In addition to DJing, she regularly organized her own events and, among other things, also promoted women behind the turntables.

She got her first engagement as a resident DJ at Zurich's Kaufleuten Club. But it was above all gigs at parties of friends like “Dekadance”, “Massive Ursive Primitive” and “Life is a Bitch” that helped her to establish herself in the Swiss DJ scene and later also internationally.

In 1996 Dj Manon started producing music and a year later her first piece was released. Starting in 2008, she organized her own parties and events with the Terminal M and Desolat labels. In 2014 she founded her own party label Mannonmania .

Manon is the mother of two children (* 1999 and * 2001) and lives in Zurich.
