DTV classification

Parallel to the hotel classification in Germany by the German Hotel and Restaurant Association , the DTV classification from the German Tourism Association exists . All providers of holiday homes and holiday apartments as well as providers of private rooms up to and including nine beds in Germany can participate in the DTV classification. With a DTV classification one to five stars are given. Participation in the DTV classification is voluntary and valid for three years. After the time has elapsed, this can be carried out again.

Minimum standards and criteria

In order to be able to participate in the DTV classification, the host's holiday properties must meet certain minimum criteria. If these are available, the evaluation can be carried out using the criteria catalog. The current catalog of criteria includes around 160 criteria, which are summarized in 9 (holiday homes / apartments) and 7 (private rooms) and weighted differently. Among other things, are evaluated

The criteria are continuously developed and optimized every three years and adapted to the expectations of the guests.

Practical implementation

DTV classification is carried out by the local tourism organizations. The prerequisite for this is the conclusion of a license agreement between DTV Service GmbH and the tourism organization that offers and carries out the classification. All examiners are trained by the DTV. The responsible tourism organization puts together an inspection committee. After successful classification, the property is assigned a star category (1-5) according to the result. The landlords can advertise with this result for three years.
