The DWK D100 is a two-axle diesel locomotive with chain drive , which was developed by Deutsche Werken (DWK) in Kiel for use in private companies and seven copies were built for standard gauge . A locomotive is inoperable in the Kleinummerfeld Railway Museum .

development

On the basis of a major order for what was then the Soviet Union , Deutsche Werke set up a model range in 1932, which included six model series with different sizes, engines and power transmission. The power transmission was solved with a chain drive or with a rod drive . The designation of the locomotive was derived from the D for diesel engine and the approximate power in hp.

Of the locomotives with chain drive, the DWK D100 was the largest version, seven of which were built.

Three locomotives were delivered to BRABAG , and Ilseder Hütte and the Reich Ministry of Aviation each received one machine. In addition, one locomotive each was sold to Sweden and France .

There was also a locomotive with a different gauge of 1676 mm and one in meter gauge with a different exterior.

technology

The locomotives have a step for the shunter at the level of the front axle and small lamps.

The machinery consisted of a six-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine from DWK, which was originally started with compressed air. The engine delivered its power via a multi-plate clutch to a mechanical four-speed gearbox, which was also controlled with compressed air. Both axles were driven by a chain drive .

commitment

The locomotive preserved in the Eisenbahnmuseum Bahnhof Kleinkummerfeld was delivered to the Reich Ministry of Aviation. After the Second World War, it was in the manufacturing plant and was sold to Stadtwerke Neumünster in 1947 , where it shunted coal trains in the power station siding for 40 years. In 1988 she was handed over to Kleinkummerfeld.
