Roof module

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A roof module is a complete roof ( soft top or classic folding top or retractable hard top or partially retractable sheet metal roof) that is produced by correspondingly specialized convertible top manufacturers and supplied to the automotive industry (or its OEM ). The vehicle manufacturer then carries out final assembly on the convertible .

Depending on the historical development of production, the contractual situation or also depending on market demand and the order situation of the manufacturers, convertible top manufacturers such as Karmann , Heuliez or Pininfarina can also be OEM manufacturers of the entire vehicle.

The companies Car Top Systems , Edscha and OASys , on the other hand, are pure convertible top or roof module manufacturers who deliver the roof systems to the manufacturers (e.g. Porsche ) or their OEMs (e.g. Valmet in Finland).
