Umbrella organization of Swiss teachers

The umbrella association for teachers in Switzerland (LCH) is a Swiss association based in Zurich . With 50,000 teachers from all school levels, it is the strongest teachers' association and one of the largest employee associations in Switzerland. It consists of numerous cantonal sections and level and professional associations. The central president was Beat W. Zemp for many years and will be Dagmar Rösler from August 1, 2019. The central secretary is Franziska Peterhans.

purpose

The association is committed to a high reputation for the teaching profession and wants to achieve good working conditions. He acts as a negotiating partner for the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Education Directors (EDK) and a consultation partner for the federal government .

history

It emerged in 1989 from the merger of the Swiss Teachers 'Association (SLV) founded in 1849 and the Conference of Swiss Teachers' Organizations (KOSLO) founded in 1970 . The central president from 1990 to mid-2019 was Beat W. Zemp .
