Dacia ripensis
The Roman province of Dacia ripensis ("Shore Dacia") was established after Emperor Aurelian gave up the province of Dacia . Capital of Dacia Ripensis was Ratiaria on the Danube. The province, which consisted of a part of the former Moesia superior province , stretched from Cuppae (now Golubac , Serbia) to the Utus River (now Vid River - Bulgarian Вит) and westward to the western part of the Balkan Mountains . The Vit River flows into the Danube from the Balkan Mountains near the Bulgarian town of Somwit (Bulgarian Сомовит).
