Daddy Cool (band)

Daddy Cool was an Australian rock group from the 1970s that formed in Melbourne . At the time, they were the most successful band in their country and are still considered a legend there, to which the Australian Post Office dedicated a stamp.

Founding members were:

  • Wayne Duncan (1944-2016), vocals and bass
  • Ross Hannaford (1950–2016), guitar, bass, vocals
  • Ross Wilson (* 1947), vocals, guitar, harmonica
  • Gary Young (* 1947), drums, vocals

Daddy Cool released three albums from 1971 to 1973, then broke up, but got back together for a year in 1974, as well as in 1995 and 2005. Their biggest hit was Eagle Rock . In 1971, the single topped the Australian charts for ten weeks, holding the record for most number one weeks by an Australian artist. In 2006 the band was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame .
