The ARIA Hall of Fame is a hall of fame of the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), which is intended to honor the most important representatives of the Australian music scene. New members have been accepted annually since 1988 as part of the ARIA Music Awards . From 2005 to 2010, under the motto Hall of Fame: ARIA Icons own ceremony in the town hall of Melbourne held. The event has been open to the public since 2008. In addition, annual exhibitions are dedicated to the members at the Arts Center Melbourne .

Admission criteria

The ARIA defines the following criteria for admission into the Hall of Fame on its website.

  1. The ARIA Hall of Fame recognizes all categories of recorded music.
  2. The nominated artist's career must have started 20 years before a possible inclusion.
  3. Membership in the ARIA Hall of Fame is reserved exclusively for the creators of recorded music; i.e., songwriters, musicians and, in some cases, producers.
  4. The nominee must have a "significant corpus" of recorded music.
  5. The nominee's work must have gained a cultural influence within Australia and / or attention in the global music market.
