The Daetz Foundation was founded in 1998 by Marlene and Peter Daetz and is located in the palace palace complex of the Daetz-Centrum Lichtenstein . It is a classic private foundation and, in accordance with its statutes, pursues exclusively charitable purposes. The foundation works purely operationally and not in a supporting manner. The purpose of the foundation includes the promotion of intercultural competence and wood carving in the Daetz-Centrum Lichtenstein.

All programs of the Daetz Foundation aim to promote better mutual understanding between people from different cultures .

The Lichtenstein model is intended to sensitize schoolchildren to intercultural issues. It complements the school-based teaching of traditional, country-specific specialist knowledge by providing an interdisciplinary understanding of traditions, sensitivities and ways of thinking.

Objectives of the educational concept:

  • Developing empathy for other cultures
  • Critical consideration of the own and the foreign
  • Promote multi-perspective thinking
  • Recognize the complexity of cultural dimensions
  • Raising awareness of differences and similarities between cultures

Awards

In 2004, Peter Daetz was awarded the " Deutscher Stifterpreis " by the Federal Association of German Foundations .
