Dag Hartelius

Dag Hartelius (born November 8, 1955 in Härnösand ) is a Swedish diplomat.

Hartelius was the Swedish consul at the Swedish Consulate General in Saint Petersburg from 1986 to 1987 . He was then first secretary at the Swedish embassy in Moscow from 1987 to 1989 and first secretary at the Swedish embassy in Berlin from 1989 to 1991 . From 1991 to 1994 he was Deputy Director of the Department for Central and Eastern Europe in the Foreign Ministry. His next post brought Hartelius to London , where he was Counselor for Politics at the Swedish Embassy from 1994 to 1997 .

Between 1997 and 1999, Hartelius was Vice President for European Security at the EastWest Institute in New York. He then returned to the Central and Eastern Europe Department of the Swedish Foreign Ministry, where he was director from 1999 to 2003. In 2003 he was sent to Estonia as the ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden . In 2008 he was transferred to Warsaw to represent Sweden as ambassador to Poland . He held this post until 2010. Since 2011 he has been the permanent representative of Sweden to the European Union .

Hartelius is married and has three sons.
