Dagda is a small town in eastern Latvia and the center of the district of the same name (Dagdas Novads).

history

The place Dagda arose in the 17th century around an estate on the Dagda lake of the same name. In 1992 city ​​rights were granted.

The philosopher Nikolai Onufrijewitsch Losski (1870–1965) and the publicist Kasimir Buinjitzki (1788–1878) lived in the village .

Dagdas novads

In 2009 ten surrounding communities joined forces with the city to form Dagdas novads. In 2010 there were 9331 residents here. (See also: Administrative division of Latvia )
