from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dagmar Monett Diaz (born April 3, 1969 in Havana , Cuba ) is a computer scientist . Since 2010 she has been a professor in the vocational academy at the Berlin School of Economics and Law , where she teaches artificial intelligence and software technology . Her research interests include knowledge-based systems , multi-agent systems and evolutionary algorithms .

Career

Monett Diaz studied computer science from 1987 to 1992 at the University of Havana in Cuba, where she also completed her master's degree in computer science from 1995 to 1998. She has lived in Germany since 1999 and initially carried out research from 2002 to 2005 as a research assistant at the Institute for Computer Science at the Humboldt University in Berlin . While teaching at the HWR Berlin from 2003 to 2010, she did her doctorate in computer science at the Humboldt University of Berlin in 2005 in the field of agent-based configuration of metaheuristic algorithms, also in connection with artificial intelligence . In the following years she taught and researched again at the Humboldt University before she was appointed professor for computer science at the HWR Berlin in 2010. There she was involved in various projects, including e-learning , a study on the use of big data in human resources and, in 2016/2017, the interdisciplinary project Bot @ HWR , which aimed to expand the research focus on robotics at the HWR. She is also a member of the management team of the “Competence Center Digitization” at the HWR.

Monett Diaz's more recent research activities are in the field of (artificial) intelligence, including an attempt to find a uniform definition of the term. She is co-founder of the AGI Sentinel Initiative (AGISI) , which aims to contribute through research to ensure that the development of artificial intelligence is used for the benefit of mankind.
