Daimachos (4th century BC)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Daimachos was an ancient Greek historian . He lived in the 4th century BC. Chr.

Daimachos, like another historian of the same name , came from Plataiai . Otherwise little is known about his person. He wrote a history that is now lost, of which only a few fragments have survived. It is unclear whether it was a more detailed contemporary history or a local history work. In any case, Felix Jacoby considered daimachos to be the author of a universal story and even the possible author of the Hellenica Oxyrhynchia . However, this thesis has been rejected in recent research.
