The type DC 3 c was a power bus of the Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft , which was manufactured in the Berlin-Marienfelde plant.

history

The type DC 3 c was a further development of the type DM 3 b, which in turn had been developed on the basis of the smaller type DM 2 b. These buses had a gasoline engine with an output of 35 hp, which was arranged in front of the driver under a hood. A novelty was the drive of the rear axle with cardan shaft, so that the vehicles were also referred to as 35 PS Cardan . The superstructures were supplied by various manufacturers.

A major customer was the Royal Saxon State Railways , which acquired a total of 43 cars from 1913. The superstructures were made by the Hermann Schumann wagon and carriage factory in Zwickau-Pölbitz. The state motor vehicle administration (SKV) listed them with the numbers 9000 to 9042 in their company fleet and used them on the newly created intercity lines.

The vehicles performed extremely well. The bus with the number 9015 was converted into a rail bus on a trial basis in 1914 by equipping the wheels with wheel flanges . In addition, the vehicle received a compressed air whistle, warning bell and the necessary signaling devices for railway operations. Nothing is known about the planned use of the car. Presumably it was put back into a normal bus after a few test drives.

The buses were in use on Saxony's motor vehicle lines until the mid-1920s, when they were replaced by larger and more powerful vehicles.
