The Dalafilla , Gaolule , Gabule or Dala Filla is a stratovolcano in Ethiopia. It is comparatively steep for its surroundings and rises from the surrounding lava field . In addition to its main cone, the volcano has two other craters with heights of 399 m (Alu) and 376 m (Alu-Süd).

2008 eruption

The volcano last erupted in 2008 on November 3rd. At that time, lava also emerged from crevices in the area and on November 8th covered an area with an area of 15 km² in the Afar region, in which the volcano is located. The lava flowed mainly north and south when viewed from the volcano. Due to fighting in the region, this eruption could only be identified through satellite images . This outbreak was initially incorrectly assigned to Erta Ale , probably due to the use of maps that were too old .
