Rosemary Low

Rosemary Low (born April 14, 1942 in Sidcup , Kent in England ) is a British author and expert on birds , especially parrot keeping . She is involved in international species protection .

Life

Rosemary Low began writing articles on parrot keeping in the late 1960s. At first she wrote articles mainly in the magazine Cage and Aviary Birds , later in over 20 magazines and until today u. a. in German journals such as the Feathered World and the Parrot . In 1984 Rosemary Low published Endangered Parrots, her first book on wildlife conservation. She has been involved in numerous parrot conservation projects, written about them and lectured at conferences in Europe, Australia, the USA and Brazil.

After her divorce, she lived in the Canary Islands and worked from 1987 to 1995 as a curator at Palmitos Park on Gran Canaria and Loro Parque on Tenerife , which houses the largest parrot collections in the world. She has written hundreds of articles and over 30 books on parrots. Many have been translated into German. To date she has traveled to 29 countries. Her exploratory trips took her mainly to South America. She has been a member of the scientific advisory board of the Loro Parque Foundation since 2017 .
