The Palmitos Park is an animal park and botanical garden on the Canary Island of Gran Canaria , which extends over an area of around 20  hectares . It is located about ten kilometers north of the Maspalomas south beach, shielded in a barranco .

In this subtropical oasis with small springs and lakes, 45 different species of palm trees from all over the world and around 1200 birds could be seen until a fire in late July 2007, which destroyed around 65% of the park and killed some of the animals , Butterflies and a plantation of over 400 species of cacti , agaves and orchids . In addition, there was also a monkey enclosure with extensive activities for its residents.

The offer also included Europe's largest butterfly house, a species-rich aquarium, a pond for water birds and flight and bird shows.

Due to the fire damage, the park was closed from July 2007. The new opening took place on August 4, 2008.

The park has since been divided into several themes. The orchid house, which is the largest in the Canary Islands, is home to hundreds of different orchid species. A cactus garden with up to four meters high cacti and a butterfly enclosure were also created after the reopening.

In several shows (birds of prey show, parrot show, exotic bird flight show) the different bird species are presented several times a day.

In April 2010 a dolphinarium was opened. The basin has an area of 3,000 square meters and is filled with 4 million liters of water. 11 filters ensure that the water quality is maintained. A grandstand for 1,500 people was built for visitors to the dolphin shows.
