Drew Remenda (born April 13, 1962 in Saskatoon , Saskatchewan ) is a former Canadian ice hockey coach and currently works as a commentator on games of the Edmonton Oilers from the National Hockey League .

Career

Remenda began his coaching career in the 1980s with the Canadian Association of Hockey Canada as a video coordinator before becoming assistant coach of the University of Calgary's ice hockey team in 1988 . When the San Jose Sharks got into the National Hockey League in 1991 , they hired Remenda as an assistant coach. He stayed in the position until 1995 and worked under the head coaches George Kingston and Kevin Constantine , before joining the coaching staff of the Kansas City Blades , the then IHL - shortly after the start of the 1995/96 season with Vasily Tichonow, who also worked as an assistant coach . Shark farm team , deported and replaced.

After only one year with the Kansas City Blades, Remenda became an analyst on the radio broadcasts of the San Jose Sharks games and commented on the side of Dan Rusanowsky . In 1999 he moved to the television channel Fox Sports Net Bay Area, which was responsible for the transmission of the Sharks games at that time. He worked there as an analyst for seven years with commentator Randy Hahn and has received several awards for his achievements. He received a Bay Area Emmy Award in 1999, 2001 and 2006 . He also hosted the Shark Byte program , which provided a look behind the scenes at the San Jose Sharks.

In May 2006 Remenda announced his departure from San Jose in a third break of a playoff game of the Sharks. During the 2006/07 season he worked for the Canadian broadcaster CBC as a co-commentator and analyst on live broadcasts. He returned to FSN Bay Area a few times during the season as an analyst when CBC broadcast the Sharks' games. He also replaced his successor Marty McSorley in two playoff games , who was not available for personal reasons.

On August 1, 2007, the San Jose Sharks announced that Drew Remenda was returning to their organization as a commentator and analyst for FSN Bay Area (now Comcast SportsNet Bay Area) and will also be hosting the popular Shark Byte show .
