Aspro Parks (also Aspro Ocio or Aspro Group ) is a Spanish operator of animal, water and amusement parks that was founded in October 1991 and is headquartered in Madrid .
history
With 46 parks in eight European countries, the Aspro Parks Group is one of the leading operators of water and amusement parks, dolphinariums and aquariums in Europe. Countries include: Belgium, Finland, France, Great Britain, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland. Aspro Parks has specialized in particular in offering water parks and show aquariums, but dolphinariums, safari parks, zoos and theme parks can also be found among the parks offered by the Aspro Parks Group. In 2015, the company employed over 5,000 people during the main season and around 2,000 permanent employees all year round. The company is often criticized by whale and animal rights activists for its dolphinariums. Together with the Spanish operator Parques Reunidos , the Aspro Parks Group owns the largest population of dolphins in Europe.
In Germany, the Bavarian service company GMF GmbH & Co. KG from Neuried (near Munich) has been part of the Aspro Parks Group since 2012 , which currently operates 20 leisure pools and sports facilities in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic.
The Aspro Parks Group last acquired the French amusement park Walibi Sud-Ouest and the Dolfinarium Harderwijk in the Netherlands in 2014 and has been the new operator of the French amusement park Walygator Parc since January 2016 .
The Aspro Parks Group currently operates 25 water parks, 10 amusement parks, 9 aquariums, 6 dolphinariums and 1 animal park in Europe.
