The GMF Society for Development and Management of Leisure Systems mbH & Co. KG ( GMF for short ) is a German operator of leisure pools, resorts, thermal baths, spas, wellness and sports facilities with headquarters in Neuried (near Munich) . The company is part of Luxembourg's Leisure Resources International SA.

history

In the mid-1980s, the Hettlage fashion group wanted to create synergies between the sale of sports fashion and sports. As a result, sports centers were built at various locations, which were planned and operated by the company's own GMF Gesellschaft für Entwicklungs und Management von Freizeitsystemen Geschäftsführungs mbH, founded in October 1986. A total of up to 20 Hettlage leisure centers in the area of multifunctional sports, tennis, fitness, wellness and ice facilities were looked after. In the 1990s, multifunctional leisure centers with adventure pools were added. In 2004, Hettlage went bankrupt and the two managing directors at the time, Klaus G. Lindner and Günther Traumüller, took over the GMF division in a management buyout together with the Bayerische Beteiligungsgesellschaft and the Munich-based subsidiary S-Partner Kapital during the course of the insolvency proceedings . For this purpose, on March 30, 2005, the RM 2490 Vermögensverwaltungs GmbH was transferred to the GMF GmbH together with the GMF Society for Development and Management of Leisure Systems Management Ltd. and renamed as a mbH & Co. KG. In September 2007, Klaus G. Lindner left the company. In 2012 Günther Traumüller also left the company. At around the same time, Luxembourg-based Leisure Resources International SA took over all shares as a holding company . Angel Barrachina became the new managing director.

GMF, Gesellschaft für Entwicklungs und Management von Freizeitsystemen mbH & Co.KG and its subsidiaries belong to Luxenbourger Leisure Resources International SA, which also includes the Spanish Aspro Group .

The company prepares feasibility studies and renovation concepts for leisure pools, thermal baths, hotel, wellness and spa facilities for municipal and private investors and acts as an investor, property developer and operator within the framework of public-private partnerships as well as lease or management agreements. In addition, she advises municipal operators on the management of such facilities and maintains central purchasing in Schwerte . In 2017, GMF operated 20 pools and thermal baths in various European countries as part of the GMF pool network with, according to its own statements, 6 million visitors and 50 million euros in sales per year and looked after a further 36 pools as a consultant.

As the operator of municipal swimming pools, GMF is regularly the focus of media reporting in German-speaking countries. The spectrum of topics ranges from public controversies in local politics to all kinds of current events.
