The Walygator Parc (formerly Walibi Lorraine ) is an amusement park in the north of Lorraine . It is located around 15 kilometers north of Metz in the districts of the municipalities of Maizières-lès-Metz and Hagondange . It covers an area of 42 hectares and offers a total of 50 attractions.
history
The park was opened on May 9, 1989 as "BigBang Schtroumpf" (the Smurfs are known as "Schtroumpf" in French), but was sold to the Belgian Walibi Group in 1990 due to financial problems . In 1991 the park was reopened with the new name "Walibi Schtroumpf".
In the course of the takeover of the Walibi Group by Premier Parks , Walibi Schtroumpf was renamed "Walibi Lorraine" in 1998. The Schlumpf theme was completely abandoned, but is still partially recognizable today in old buildings.
In 2006 the park was separated from the Walibi Group, which was now part of Star Parks , and sold to the brothers Claude and Didier Douarin, who continued the park under the old name until the end of the season and renovated and renovated it in the following winter break have remodeled. In April 2007 the park opened for the first time under the current name "Walygator Parc".
Today the Walygatorparc consists of 5 individual theme parks: Le Monde de l'Aventure, La Porte du Temps, Le Monde des P'tits Bouts, Le Monde Circul'Air and The Terror House.
The Inverted Coaster for sale by the manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard Orochi from Expoland in Japan was moved to Walygator Parc in 2010. This roller coaster is a copy of the Inverted Coaster Raptor from the American theme park Cedar Point . The opening of another roller coaster from Expoland, a wild mouse by Mack Rides , was originally planned for 2011.
Since January 2016, the park has belonged to the Spanish Aspro Parks Group, which primarily operates water parks.
