The Monster is an inverted roller coaster in Walygator Parc , Maizières-lès-Metz , Lorraine . It is the first roller coaster by Bolliger & Mabillard in France .

The roller coaster was originally operated at Expoland in Japan from 1996 to 2007 under the name Orochi . With the exception of the brake and a 45 meter longer track, the track is an almost identical copy of the Raptor opened in Cedar Point in 1994 .

Construction began in January / February 2010. Due to the bad weather, work started later than planned, which is why the inauguration, which was originally planned for April 10, 2010, was postponed. A second inauguration date in mid-June was also postponed because the TÜV did not initially approve the opening of the roller coaster. The lift opened on July 9, 2010 without any further notice.

The 1200 m long route reaches a height of 40 m and has six inversions : a 31 m high loop , a zero-g-roll , a cobra-roll , which consists of two inversions and two corkscrews . The trains reach a maximum speed of 90 km / h on the route.

Because of its previous position in Japan, The Monster is designed to be earthquake-proof.

Trains

The Monster has two trains with eight cars each. Four people (one row) can be seated in each car.
