The Mack Rides GmbH & Co KG (formerly: Heinrich Mack GmbH & Co. KG) is a family business in the Baden Waldkirch in Freiburg and one of the market leaders in the development and production of theme park attractions . Roland Mack , a member of the founder's family, is the managing partner of Europa-Park in Rust near Freiburg, Germany's largest amusement park.
history
The company was founded in 1780 by Paul Mack and initially focused on the construction of wagons and stagecoaches. After a wagon for organ transport was built in 1880, the systematic construction and further development of wagons for showmen and circus entrepreneurs began. In 1920 the Mack company started building fairground rides. The company's first wooden roller coaster was completed in 1921, followed by the first petrol track in 1936 and the first wooden bobsleigh track in 1951. From 1952 the company's sales in the USA increased sharply. In 1957 the prototype of the " Wild Mouse " was created, today a well-known roller coaster shape at fairs and festivals . In contrast to today's steel models, the new development at the time was also made of wood.
In 1975 the Europa-Park in Rust was opened by Franz Mack and his son Roland Mack . Europa-Park is now Germany's largest amusement park. Today Mack Rides is one of the leading companies in the amusement park attraction sector.
At the end of 2018, the company relocated part of the rail and vehicle production to Herbolzheim , as no expansion options could be found in Waldkirch so quickly.
