Mirabilandia is a themed resort near Ravenna in Italy , which consists of the Mirabilandia Park amusement park and the Mirabilandia Beach water park. With almost 1.4 million visitors a year, it is the second most visited resort in Italy after Gardaland . The resort covers an area of approx. 75 hectares, of which approx. 30 are used for the amusement park and 10 for the water park.
history
The park opened on July 8, 1992 as a project by a group of investors with the main attractions Rio Bravo and the wooden roller coaster Sierra Tonante . After a few problems, Mirabilandia was taken over in November 1996 by the Löffelhardt family, who also own the German Phantasialand , and Giancarlo Casoli, an owner of the ride manufacturer SDC. In the following years, the resort was expanded and the famous Katun roller coaster was built. In 2006, the Spanish leisure chain Parques Reunidos bought Mirabilandia for around 100 million euros.
In 2002 the former “Playcenter Pernambuco ” in Olinda, Brazil, was also taken over by one of the owners of the Italian park, renamed “Mirabilândia” and operated with the same logos and mascots to this day.
