Dreamworld is an amusement park on the Gold Coast , near Brisbane , in Australia . With around 85 hectares, it is currently the largest amusement park in Australia. It opened on December 15, 1981.

In December 2006, the White Water World water park was opened as an independent amusement park by the same company in the direct vicinity of the park . The two parks are connected by a special crossing and with a special ticket, the so-called World Pass (advertising slogan: “ Get drenched. Get dry. ” - English for example “ Get wet. Get dry ”) you can visit both parks .

Accidents

  • October 25, 2016: Four adults were killed in an accident at the Thunder River Rapids Ride when their boat overturned. The victims were thrown out of the boat and partially trapped. Two children sat in the boat with them and survived. In November 2016, the park announced that the attraction would be demolished and removed from the park.
  • April 16, 2017: On the Rocky Hollow Log Ride , a young man fell out of a boat and got into the channel of the flume; he suffered serious injuries and almost drowned when he was run over by two boats. The railway remained closed after the accident. It reopened in January 2018. In the future, an additionally installed safety roof over every boat will prevent or at least make it more difficult to fall out or stand up while driving.
