Hot Wheels SideWinder in Dreamworld ( Coomera , Queensland , Australia ) is a steel roller coaster of the Custom Looping Coaster model from Arrow Dynamics , which opened on December 26, 2001. It was originally opened in 1995 in Luna Park ( Sydney ) as the Big Dipper , but was closed again on January 27, 2001 due to noise pollution from local residents. Parts of the track are in close proximity to the water attractions of WhiteWater World . At the time of its opening, it was considered the first megacoaster on the Gold Coast since 1995.

construction

Cyclone was built in 1994 at a cost of 8 million  Australian dollars , using 1,000 tons of steel and 15,000 bolts and screws. Dreamworld paid $ 5.5 million for the track, with $ 3 million spent on the track itself and $ 2.5 million on installing, modifying, and developing the theme of the track. Most of the changes took place on the supports. In Sydney the railway was partly built over a one-story building, so that the supports for Dreamworld had to be adapted to the new floor. 136 trucks were required to transport the 900 m long route from Sydney to Coomera.

Track layout

The 40 m high and 900 m long run has two inversions : a reverse sidewinder and a looping , both inversions being in WhiteWater World . The single train, which consists of six cars, has a capacity of 24 people (four people (two rows of two people) per car) and has a top speed of 85 km / h.
