Journey to Atlantis at SeaWorld San Diego ( San Diego , California , USA ) is a water coaster model Water Coaster from the manufacturer Mack Rides , which opened on May 29, 2004.
The 29 m high water roller coaster has an 18 m high descent on which the carriages reach a top speed of 68 km / h. The travel time is around 5 minutes and the maximum acceleration is 3 g. Part of the route runs through an elaborately themed building. Inside, a water ingress and with it the sinking of Atlantis is shown. Architecturally, the building with domed towers and arches combines different styles into a fictional "Atlantic style". The runway lacks a large dark ride section like Journey to Atlantis in SeaWorld Orlando, but it has a significantly longer roller coaster section. As a further special feature, in addition to a conventional chain lift, a vertical lift is also used within the building, in which the hybrid vehicles are pulled up on a piece of rail perpendicular to the final departure.
