Covering an area of 35 hectares game reserve and some rides to find. The park is integrated into the mountain landscape and has the Black Forest theme throughout. For example, there is a film about the history of the mountains and a museum with true-to-original model buildings of Black Forest houses .

The park's offerings are primarily aimed at families with children. The park is open from mid-March to early November.

history

Steinwasen is mentioned early as the birthplace of Simon Wiestler in the year 1618 in the church register of Kirchzarten. In the middle of the 17th century a simple homestead was built on the Steinwasen site. Due to its location on a pass road through the Black Forest, the farm gained importance in the 19th century when a post office with a restaurant was opened here.

The last owners, the Kreutz family, gave up the farm in 1970 and sold the site to the building contractor Adolf Braun, who built a wildlife park in his place. In the planning and implementation, Adolf Braun received support from recognized wildlife biologists . The park was opened in 1974 and was supplemented in 1979 with a chair lift and summer toboggan runs. One of these toboggan runs was covered in 1989.

After a new main building was erected in 1996, the Spacerunner and Gletscherblitz adventure railways opened two years later .

In 2000, the Black Forest cinema was built and its own film production was shot on the genesis of the Black Forest natural landscape. In the following year, the longest adventure bridge in the world, which is also mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records , was completed.

In 2008, the River Splash whitewater attraction and the Schneeburg Steinwasen adventure playground were added, before the 3D simulator was converted into a 4D cinema in 2011 .

Attractions

park

A 218 m long rope bridge spans the valley , which the park advertises as the longest adventure rope bridge in the world . In 2004 the Black Forest Ultra Bike Marathon ran over this bridge.

In addition to Black Forest dioramas and fairytale scenes, the upper floor of the main building houses two other rides: the Luxi-Kinderland , a Dark Ride , and a 4D cinema. The Black Forest cinema thematizes a cinematic journey through time through the primeval landscape of southern Germany.

The zoo, which has existed since 1974, is home to over 30 wild species in their natural habitat and a petting zoo. Among other things, red deer, lynx, marmots, chamois, ibex and mouflon are shown.

The castle-themed playground with its water splashes, tube slides, train and suspension bridges, climbing wall, springboard and balancing facilities is aimed at children.

Lanes

Outside, a chair lift takes visitors to the mountain station of the two 800 m long summer toboggan runs . One of the toboggan runs is covered and can therefore also be used when it rains.

In the basement of the main building, designed as an ice world, there is the powered roller coaster Gletscherblitz and the bob-kart track Spacerunner , where the speed can be determined. As a special feature, both railways run exclusively inside and are therefore independent of the weather.

Outside there is the Spinning Rapids Ride River Splash , where round boats glide while turning in the water channel.
