Star Trek: Operation Enterprise (based on the Star Trek universe) is a steel roller coaster made by Mack Rides in Movie Park Germany . The roller coaster is the newest ride and here the second tallest structure. It stands on the long unused area between the Bermuda Triangle - Alien Encounter and The Lost Temple . The old film museum is used as a new queue for this. The Twisted Halfpipe is unique in Europe .

history

Another Launched Coaster was originally to be built on the construction site of this roller coaster . Under the direction of Wouter Dekkers, the "Air Driver", in cooperation with the manufacturer Intamin , was planned as a real new attraction. This track should open in 2012 and offer a similar layout. Due to the financial crisis at the time, the application was withdrawn at the request of the corporate group. This was downgraded at the time and could not take any loans within a profitable range.

In the middle of 2015, the first rumors of a new major attraction arose in the area. These were confirmed almost at the same time by a regional newspaper. A short time later, the first dimensions of the new lift could be seen. Trees were felled and the first holes were drilled into the ground. As a result of this work, the third volcano from the Bermuda Triangle - Alien Encounter was demolished. However, this was only a theme and not an existential part of the attraction.

Due to concerns in neighboring residential areas about an increase in noise, Movie Park commissioned an expert opinion to determine the noise protection values, which confirmed that the company had a harmless noise level. In addition, an early model of the roller coaster was presented to the local council so that they could get an idea of the extent of the attraction. This design was very close to the final realization.

After the building permit was granted, several concrete slabs were poured and a hole was torn in the hall of The Lost Temple. As the concrete work continued into the 2016 season, the Bermuda Triangle - Alien Encounter attraction was closed for a few more weeks.

After a short break, the supports and rails were delivered. These were assembled in a hurry, so that the roller coaster could celebrate the end of its tracks within a very short time.

Operation Enterprise is in its own subject area, Federation Plaza . This takes up the remains of the old Marienhof and borders directly on the entrance to the park.

Since the runway was opened, there is also a brief description of the official story:
The crew of the Enterprise NCC-1701-D was attacked by the Borg on their way to a Federation meeting and transported to the enemy ship. The enemy Borg use a tractor beam to hold the unmanned USS Enterprise captive. The ship and crew are therefore completely unable to act. You are the last hope of rescue!
As a newly trained Starfleet cadet, you are currently on a neighboring ship. Beam from its transporter room to the orphaned Enterprise in order to face the greatest challenge of your life in small shuttles: Break through the protective shields of the Borg ship in a breathtaking rescue mission and destroy the main systems. Only in this way can the crew of the Enterprise be saved - and the holodeck mission carried out successfully.

Theming

This roller coaster is the world's first and only roller coaster with a Star Trek theme. There are a few props from the classic Enterprise series to marvel at, but the setting is primarily based on the Star Trek - The Next Generation series . Before the journey, you can enter a transporter room, from which you are "beamed" directly onto the bridge of the USS Enterprise 1701-D. This bridge looks very authentic (except for a few proportions). Here the passenger learns some information about the “mission” of the cadets before they continue to the actual roller coaster. The developers of the ride have processed many small details. In the case of minor technical problems, it can be heard that the mission is currently interrupted for technical reasons, but that a team of technicians under the direction of Geordi LaForge would take care of the matter. And after the problem is fixed, it is announced that the technical team has fixed the problem and that the mission can continue. Many small details (such as different labels on the cover plates), as well as the soundtrack recorded by the 70-member Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra, which mainly contains well-known melodies from the Star Trek universe (such as the Voyager theme), ensure high Star Trek authenticity. The meticulous implementation of the theming was strictly controlled by CBS , the holder of the Star Trek license. The park has secured the license for 10 years.

Due to the requirements in the building permit, only theming close to the ground is allowed, so that the theming was mainly implemented in the waiting area, which takes up the space of the former film museum.

Course of the journey

After leaving the station, you drive into a covered “transfer switch”. This pushes you in the right direction of travel onto the actual route of the train. From there you drive to the launch segment and are shot towards the top hat for the first time . However, you cannot overcome it at this speed, which is why you fall backwards onto the launch segment and get shot a second time, but this time backwards and directly into the unique driving element in Europe, the vertical "twisted halfpipe" that is rotated by 180 ° (also called Twisted Vertical Rollback ). From this element you fall off again and for the third and last time onto the launch segment. Now you accelerate to maximum speed and pass the top hat. From there it goes on to the 25 meter high Immelmann (consisting of half a loop and half a corkscrew ) which is linked directly to a complete heartline roll . After the descent you pass an over-sloping curve of 100 ° and drive through the hall and into the three airtime hills . This is followed by a helix of 270 ° and a zero-g-roll . This is then followed by the final brake.
