Cop Car Chase [ kɒp kɑ tʃeɪs ] was a looping steel roller coaster of the manufacturer Intamin in Movie Park Germany ( Bottrop-Kirchhellen ), as Dueling Rollercoaster was executed.

It opened in 1996 as the Lethal Weapon Pursuit . After Star Parks took over Warner Bros. Movie World Germany in 2004 , it has been operating under the name of Cop Car Chase since 2005 .

Cop Car Chase consisted of two separate roller coasters that had a similar route. The stations, the lift hills and parts of the route were parallel to each other. Ideally, the trains of both railways started at the same time, which resulted in a "race" between the trains. Cop Car Chase was the only dueling coaster in Germany.

A large part of the routes, including the loops, were enclosed. The hall through which the trains went was designed as a large warehouse. Between the 1996 and 1997 season, the hall was painted rust. The track was equipped with various special optical and acoustic effects. A burning car that appeared to be flying over the track was particularly spectacular. It was pulled along a rail attached to the tracks. However, this effect was only in operation for the first few years.

During the Warner Bros. Movie World era, the theme of the train was based on the movie Lethal Weapon of the same name . After the Warner Bros. - Licenses also removed a small part of the theming.

Cop Car Chase had eight trains (four per train) with two cars each . Four people (two rows of two people) could sit in each car. The trains were designed as black and white American police cars. A block system meant that two trains could be on the line while the other two were being loaded and unloaded in the station. The station had separate entry and exit areas, one behind the other. The block system was not implemented by braking on the track, but by the two chain lifts each.

Eddy current brakes were used as brakes , which, unlike other similar roller coasters from the manufacturer Intamin, were not mounted horizontally but vertically. The braking swords were attached to the side below the car. Friction wheels were used for transport out of the brakes and in the station.

The railways were taken out of service in August 2006 because the maintenance costs to meet the German TÜV requirements were no longer economical. The demolition of the runway began on October 16, 2006. The former site occupies the Santa Monica Pier, which was built in 2007 .
