The house at Herrenkrugstrasse 197 is a listed building complex in Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt . It comprised an administrative building and a tram depot for the Magdeburg tram .

It is located on the west side of the southern section of Herrenkrugstrasse in the Magdeburg district of Brückfeld .
Architecture and history
The three-story administration building erected around 1890 is located on the eaves facing the street. It houses the administration of the directly adjacent tram depot and originally also a director's apartment for this facility. The representative brick building is designed in the neo-baroque style. The horizontal structure of the five-axis facade is made by cornices . There are uniaxial side risalites on the outer edges . The input is centrally located and having a supported from Kompositsäulen arbor provided. There is a round skylight above the front door. The windows on the ground floor are designed as arched windows. The building is covered by a flat roof with a suggested mansard .
Parts of the historic wrought-iron property fence have been preserved.
The tram depot facilities extend west of the house. Tram tracks lead from Herrenkrugstrasse into the elongated, parallel to each other arranged operations buildings, in which the car hall, workshop and forge are located. This building complex of two-storey clinker buildings was built in 1902 as the main tram workshop. The windows of the buildings are partly designed as arched windows . The smithy hall is particularly noteworthy. It is one of the few remaining buildings of this type and has chimneys on the outer longitudinal walls and on the gable . The chimneys' chimneys are recognizable as a pilaster structure.
The building complex is an important architectural document from the time of the expansion of the urban infrastructure in the course of the significant increase in population of the city of Magdeburg during industrialization.
In the local register of monuments , the complex is listed as an administrative building under registration number 094 70965 as a monument .
