history
The Taunus Wunderland was opened on May 12, 1966 as a fairytale forest and petting zoo. In addition to European farm animals, exotic animals such as ostriches, zebras and monkeys were shown. The park was aimed at younger children and their families. From 1998 the expansion to an amusement park with rides took place. The animated fairy tale depictions made of ceramics and clay from the Heissner company in the old park were gradually removed, as was the collection of plastic dinosaur replicas. This still partly exists.
The number of exotic birds was expanded considerably. In 2009, a grill hut with outside seating was also built. The Taunus Wunderland song, which was composed shortly after the park opened and since then has been shown in the original version at almost all stations in the park, was rearranged and produced by Marco Breitenstein from the Wajanja label in 2012 and has been heard in the park since 2013.
