Wambach is a district of the community Schlangenbad in the Rheingau-Taunus district in Hesse with almost 1000 inhabitants.
geography
Wambach is north of the capital Schlangenbad in High Taunus at an altitude of 350 meters in the portion of Walluftals that the Taunus main ridge intersects. To the east of Wambach, the Hohe Wurz rises at 618 meters . Coming from the south from the direction of the federal highway 66 , the federal highway 260 leads through Wambach and over the slope called Wambacher Stich on the Taunushöhen to Bad Ems and Nassau an der Lahn . In the village, the L 3037 branches off to the west from the main road. This leads one after the other to the other Schlangenbad districts Bärstadt , Hausen vor der Höhe , Obergladbach and Niedergladbach and finally to the Wispertal .
history
The earliest surviving documentary evidence proves the existence of the place Wagenbach since the year 1200, namely in a fiefdom list of the Counts of Bolanden , who had fief rights here. The name is probably due to the personal name Wago as the presumed founder of the settlement. The grazing rights of the Wambach farmers extended as far as Dotzheim and the Aartal . The place was in the Hohenstein office part of the Niedergrafschaft Katzenelnbogen and came with this to the House of Hesse and in 1816 to the Duchy of Nassau , where Wambach was assigned to the office of Langen-Schwalbach . After the annexation of the duchy by Prussia, the place was assigned to the Untertaunuskreis in the Wiesbaden administrative region in 1867 .
As part of the regional reform in Hesse , Wambach voluntarily joined the community of Schlangenbad on December 31, 1971. For the district of Wambach, as for the other districts, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was set up.
Culture and sights
At the southern entrance to the village is the Wambacher Mühle with a mill museum. The Taunus Wunderland children's adventure park is located above Wambach, on the road to the Hohe Wurzel .
