The Toverland (German: magic land) in the Dutch Sevenum in Venlo is a year-round theme park . Many attractions are housed in two large halls. Some of them are outside.
history
In 2001 Toverland was opened with a hall as a purely indoor park aimed at families with small children. In 2004 the second hall with the theme wonder forest (opened under the name 'Magic Forest') and the outdoor area were inaugurated. The new attractions, such as the Boosterbike roller coaster , wild water ride and high ropes course, expanded the target group to include families with older children. On July 1, 2007, the Troy wooden roller coaster opened in an extended outdoor area with a “Trojan” theme. On July 8, 2010, the Trojan area around Troy was expanded with the “Scorpios” swing ship and a horse riding track. In 2011, the new theme area De magische Vallei was announced. The first attraction in this themed area was the d'wervelwind rollercoaster that opened at the end of September 2012 . On April 26, 2013, De magische Vallei was officially opened with a carousel, a ten-meter-high observation tower, a water show and the Rapid River Djengu River .
In 2015 the park had 698,484 visitors.
The eight millionth visitor was welcomed on November 25, 2017.
On July 7, 2018, the two themed areas 'Port Laguna' and 'Avalon' were opened. This is the largest expansion in the history of Toverland.
Subject areas
The Toverland has a total of six themed areas: 'Land van Toos', 'Wunderwald', 'Troy Area', 'De magische Vallei', 'Avalon' and 'Port Laguna'.
- Land van Toos
The 'Land van Toos' themed area extends over the first hall and the 'Tovertuin' area that is adjacent to it. It is the oldest of the themed areas and was already there when the park opened, but not under this name at the time.
- Wonder forest
In 2004 the 'Magic Forest' was opened, which extends over the second hall and at that time also over the Booster Bike roller coaster , which has been part of the 'De magische Vallei' theme area since 2013 after the entrance was relocated. In 2018 the subject area was renamed Wonder Forest.
- Ithaca
'Ithaka' stretches around the wooden roller coaster Troy , which only has other attractions since the construction of the 'Scorpios' swing ship and the 'Paarden van Ithaka'. A Trojan city gate forms the entrance to the themed area. Another striking feature is the replica of the Trojan horse as a theming element in the middle of the area.
- De magische Vallei
'De magische Vallei' opened in 2013 and extends over the outside area behind 'Wunder Wald'. The main attractions are the Rapid River 'Djengu River' and the roller coaster Dwervelwind . Booster Bike has been assigned to this area since it opened. Access to the magical valley is through the 'Magic Forest' or from outside under the Booster Bike. The many water features in the area are very striking.

Avalon
The new themed area 'Avalon' brings 2 attractions with it, the roller coaster 'Fenix' (Wing Coaster) and the boat trip 'Merlin's Quest', with which the park inaugurated its first dark ride. The opening was planned for July 7, 2018 and could be kept on time, both 'Fēnix' and 'Merlin's Quest' have been in operation since then.
Port Laguna
With Avalon, the new entrance and themed area 'Port Laguna' was opened in 2018. There are no attractions in this area, but an interactive show called "Magiezijn".

Awards
The park and the manufacturers were awarded the "FKF-Award" for the Booster Bike (Vekoma) and Wirbelbaum (Metallbau Emmeln) attractions in 2004 and 2005 by the Freundeskreis Kirmes und Freizeitparks eV . The park received the “FKF-Award 2013” for the theme area De magische Vallei and the company IMAScore 2014 for the musical design.
