Palafolls castle ruins

Palafolls is a Catalan town in the province of Barcelona in northeastern Spain .

geography

Palafolls is in the Comarca of Maresme . A large part of the district is covered by forests ( oak , pine , sweet chestnut ). Over 25% of the district is used for agriculture, especially for growing potatoes, vegetables and fruit.

From 1950 onwards, due to the high level of immigration, the population rose sharply from just over 1,000, and later continuously to 9,405 (as of January 1, 2019).

Buildings

The ruins of the palace of Palafolls , seat of the barony of the same name , rise on a small mountain range.

The Japanese architect Arata Isozaki planned the Palafolls sports complex in 1987 , which was inaugurated in 1996.
