Sant Andreu de Llavaneres , short for Llavaneres , is a Catalan municipality in the province of Barcelona in northeastern Spain . It is in the Comarca of Maresme .
history
The oldest archaeological remains are from the Neolithic , namely the rocks of "Sant Magí" in the Sierra de Montalt .
The Roman village of Can Sanç, where vineyards and olive trees were grown, was located between the rivers Llavaneres and “les Bruixes”. The economic activity, as in Mataro and other communities, was purely agricultural.
Later called San Andreu de Llavaneres, it was part of Mataro and gained independence in the mid-sixteenth century.
San Andreu de Llavaneres became the resort of the better society of Barcelona ( 1920 ). Several of his modernist buildings date from this period , including those by the Catalan architect Joaquim Lloret i Homs .
