Vilassar de Dalt Town Hall (1884)

Vilassar de Dalt is a Catalan town in the province of Barcelona in northeastern Spain . It is in the Comarca of Maresme .

Vilassar de Dalt, formerly known as Sant Genís de Vilassar , extends from the coast to the foothills of the Serra de Sant Mateu (448 m). The mountainous part of the district is covered by pine and oak forests and pastures.

The city is located in the higher part of the district at the foot of the restored Castell de Vilassar . This already existed in the 12th century. In 1931 it was declared an "art historical monument".

Traditional agriculture (wine, grain, animal feed, potatoes, vegetables, flowers) is increasingly taking a back seat to tourist activities (holiday homes). The textile and metal industries as well as the chemical industry are important.
