Dallas Seavey (born March 4, 1987 in Virginia ) is an American musher . He has won the Iditarod dog sled race four times (2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016). In his first win, he was the youngest musher to have achieved this significant victory.

Career

Born to Mitch Seavey , who became an Iditarod Champion for the third time in 2017, he moved to Seward , Alaska , at the age of 5 . There he helped his father train the dogs. When he was old enough to take part in races himself, his successes began. He won the Yukon Quest in 2011 and became the youngest Iditarod winner ever in 2012 (less than two minutes ahead!). When he won in 2014, he set the course record of 8 days, 13 hours and 4 minutes. In 2016 he improved his own course record to 8 days 11h 20m 16s. He relegated his father Mitch to second place with only 45 minutes ahead. In addition, he has won various national prizes.

He did not take part in the 2018 race. He is suspected of doping his dogs in the 2017 race, in which a prohibited substance ( tramadol ) was detected in the blood of four of his animals . The race organizers could not prove that Seavey was doping and he himself denied the allegations.

Today Seavey lives in Willow with his wife Jen, who also participated in the Iditarod. You have a daughter.

Seavey took part several times in episodes of the American survival series Ultimate Survival Alaska .
