Damián Rodrigo Díaz Montero , called Damián Díaz , (born May 1, 1986 in Rosario ) is an Argentine football player .

Career

Díaz began his career in his hometown with "Juan XXIII". After five years he moved to the youth department of Rosario Central . He played for three years for the youth of "El Canalla" and in 2007 played his first game in the top Argentinian league. After a successful 2007/08 season in which he scored four goals in 25 games, Díaz followed his coach Carlos Ischia to Boca Juniors . Since he could not prevail in his position against Juan Román Riquelme , he was loaned to CD Universidad Católica in Chile in the summer of 2009 . He scored 14 goals in 32 games in his two seasons with Universidad Católica. It all seemed that Diaz would stay in Católica. Nevertheless, he was loaned to the Argentine first division club CA Colón in the summer of 2010 .

After a year he joins the big Ecuadorian club Barcelona Sporting Club . Despite advances from abroad, he played there for three years and won the Ecuadorian championship in 2012 . In the summer transfer window, al-Wahda from Abu Dhabi signed the Argentine offensive player for two years. There he scored 14 goals in 45 games and helped the club to the runner-up in 2013/14. After the two years he returned to Barcelona Sporting Club.
