Damiano Marzotto Caotorta

Damiano Marzotto Caotorta (born January 7, 1944 in Fiesole , Italy ) is an Italian Roman Catholic clergyman . He is Undersecretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith .

Life

Ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Milan on June 28, 1967 , he entered the service of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith on October 1, 1982 . On December 11, 1987, Pope John Paul II bestowed him the honorary title of Chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ) and on July 10, 1999 the title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness . On February 12, 2003, John Paul II appointed him office director of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on June 20, 2009 as undersecretary of the same dicastery .
