Damir Polančec (born June 25, 1967 in Đelekovec, Koprivnica , Croatia ) is a Croatian politician. He belongs to the HDZ party .

He was deputy head of government in Ivo Sanader's cabinet from February 17, 2005 to January 12, 2008 , and then Minister of Economics until October 30, 2008. On October 15, 2010, a Zagreb court sentenced him to one year and three months in prison. He is said to have commissioned an unnecessary legal opinion at a price of 70,000 euros. Further corruption proceedings are currently pending.
