Nezavisne novine

Nezavisne novine (German about Independent News or Independent Newspaper ) is a daily newspaper from Banja Luka , Bosnia and Herzegovina . It was founded in December 1995 by Željko Kopanja and initially appeared weekly. The newspaper had a circulation of 11,000 in 2001 and between 20,000 and 25,000 in 2008.

Nezavisne novine was one of the first media in the Republika Srpska to cover war crimes. She is said to be close to the long-time leader of the opposition and today's Prime Minister of the Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik . On the other hand, it is considered independent and is also read in the Federation .

The newspaper's publishing company has also operated a radio station, Nes radio , since 1997 . At times she also published a women's magazine called Minja .

In October 1999, the founder and editor of the newspaper, Željko Kopanja, was bombed and lost both legs. The attack was never solved. In 2000 Kopanja received the International Press Freedom Award .

Long-time editor-in-chief was Dragan Jerinić. In 2009 he was replaced by Borjana Radmanović-Petrović.
