Steamer friends Lake Lucerne
Dampferfreunde Vierwaldstättersee is an association based in Lucerne , which is committed to the maintenance of the steamers operated by the shipping company of the Vierwaldstättersee (SGV) .
Club goal
The aim of the association is to keep the five steamer cities of Lucerne , Gallia , Schiller , Unterwalden and Uri roadworthy and in operation for as long as possible. In order to achieve this, it helps finance necessary conversions and renovations through donations from its members.
history
When the steamship Wilhelm Tell was decommissioned and the planned decommissioning and scrapping of the other five steamers on Lake Lucerne by SGV, a resistance was organized. From this, the association Dampferfreunde Vierwaldstättersee was formed in 1972 in order to be able to react accordingly to the planned projects.
The association has around 10,000 members.
