Dan Bull (born March 27, 1986 in Bromsgrove , Worcestershire ; real name Daniel Bull ) is a British rapper and web video producer for YouTube .

Music and characteristics

Well-known features of his texts are often political or social issues, such as the closure of Megaupload on January 19, 2012 or the SOPA draft law presented on October 26, 2011 . Videos produced by Dan Bull for the published songs usually appear on his YouTube channel, to which more than 1,000,000 users have already subscribed. His videos have already been viewed over 190,000,000 times. (As of February 2016)

Dan Bull himself lists hip-hop , electro and indie genres on his Facebook page as his favorite music genres.

In late April 2012, Dan Bull began posting videos on autism . In a comment on YouTube, he explains that he was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome as a child :

"To answer - I was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome as a young boy after my teachers / parents / doctors noticed symptomatic behavior. It is a high functioning autistic spectrum disorder. My particular flavor means that I am very good with words .... and I have a fricking medical diagnosis to prove it ".

Conflict with GEMA

When Dan Bull published his album Face in individual videos on the video platform YouTube , GEMA blocked some songs in Germany, whereupon Dan Bull emailed those responsible asking why his self-written songs were not allowed in Germany. After a short correspondence, all 12 Face songs are available in Germany again - but this has not improved Dan Bull's opinion of GEMA.

Video games

In contrast to the mostly very serious songs, Dan Bull is also constantly writing songs about video games. As with his "Modern Warfare Epic Rap", the videos produced for this show show sequences from gameplay trailers or self-recorded multiplayer games. Dan Bull has also written songs about video games like Mass Effect , Assassin's Creed , Grand Theft Auto , Skyrim and Minecraft , of which his "Minecraft Creeper Rap" is currently the most successful song with over 15,000,000 views (as of July 2016).

Albums

  • Safe (2009)
  • Face (2011)
  • The Garden (2014)

According to Dan Bull, there is only one CD version of his album "Face" which he would sell for 1,000,000 pounds, but he recommends buying a digital version to save money.

"Want the CD version? I have news for you. There's only one copy of the CD in existence, and I'm selling it for £ 1,000,000. That's right - I'm compensating for an age without scarcity by artificially inducing some scarcity of my own. Seriously, I'm selling this disc for £ 1,000,000. Take it or leave it. Serious offers welcome ... God, I've just realized something. Buy the digital version instead of the CD copy, and you'll be saving about £ 999,995! How can you possibly turn down an offer like that? "

In April 2016 Dan Bull finally offered the signed CD to the person with the highest purchase price during a bundle sale of his works.
