Danapur is a suburb of Patna in the Indian state of Bihar and is on the railway line to Kolkata .

During the colonial period, Danapur was a British garrison town ; there was an Indian and an English district.

At the time of the uprising of 1857 , Josephine Lorenz, matron of the English Misses from Munich , died together with another German sister in the local Catholic St. Stephen's Church . A memorial has been set up there as a reminder.
