Daniel Branca (born December 7, 1951 in Buenos Aires , † January 28, 2005 ibid) was an Argentine painter and comic artist. He drew stories about Disney characters from Duckburg .

Life

Already at the age of four his artistic talent showed in the fact that he reproduced many objects in his surroundings in detail. At the age of 16 he got his first job as a graphic and animation designer in an advertising agency. During the following years he drew, among other things, primary school materials.

In 1976 he moved from Argentina to Barcelona to work for the major Bruguera publishing house. In 1977 he moved to Bardon Art, where he began working with Egmont Verlag.

From 1982 to 1984 he studied art and painting in Paris , where he also had several exhibitions. During this time he did not design new duck drawings, like Donald Duck , but found his motifs in Christian iconography and Art Nouveau .

In 1984 he moved to Mallorca and continued his work on the ducks. However, he continued to paint professionally and exhibited his works in galleries.

Branca's favorite characters were Dagobert Duck and Gundel Gaukeley . The former because he keeps pushing new stories forward through his avarice, the latter because, in his opinion, she is the only female Disney character to have a touch of sensuality.
