Daniel Croner

Daniel Croner (born March 22, 1656 in Kronstadt , † April 23, 1740 in Heldsdorf ) was a Transylvanian theologian and organist .

Life

Croner was born as the son of the Kronstadt master tailor Daniel Croner. He attended the Honterus Gymnasium in Kronstadt from 1671 to 1678 . In 1680 he was a student at the Maria Magdalena grammar school in Breslau . In 1681 he traveled via Leipzig to Wittenberg , where he studied theology. In 1684 he lived again in Kronstadt, where he married in 1687. In 1691 he became a preacher at the Johanniskirche, in 1693 at the city church. In 1701 he moved to Heldsdorf as a pastor.

Musical work

Croner made four books with organ tablatures, 1681 in Breslau, 1682 in Wittenberg and two more (1675 and 1685) in Kronstadt. The tablatures contain works by various composers, including their own compositions.
