Daniel Léopoldès (born October 26, 1960 in Molsheim ) is a former French football player and current coach.
Player career
Léopoldès began his career in the youth department of Racing Strasbourg , but then decided against the club because he saw his competition on the wing, which consisted of Raymond Domenech and Jean-Jacques Marx , not equal. When he was 17 at the time, he signed with SR Saint-Dié in 1978 . There he was in the professional squad, but was only used in the reserve team in his first season. The following year, however, the player-coach Eugène Battmann gave him his trust, so that Léopoldès could play 28 second division games and helped to secure relegation. He was also set at Saint-Dié in the following two seasons, but after the team's relegation at the end of the 1981/82 season he decided to move to US Orléans , which also competed in the second division. Although he was not an undisputed regular player in the team, he made 25 appearances in his first season and was able to increase this further in the following years. He approached the promotion places with Orléans when the team reached sixth place and Léopoldès completed the highest scoring season of his career with four goals. This was followed by two more seasons in which the team performed well and Léopoldès came on regularly. In the 1986/87 season he only posted 18 missions and left Orléans in 1987 after five years. He went to SM Caen , who was a favorite for promotion with a team around Franck Dumas , Yvan Lebourgeois and Jean-Pierre Avrillon . Although he was not a regular regular there either with 18 appearances, he was able to celebrate the intended promotion to the first division with Caen in 1988 . Despite numerous additions, Léopoldès increased his number of games to 22 games, which remained his only in the first division, because he moved to Red Star Paris in the second division in 1989 . At first he was still on regular assignments for the team, but in the second season he was no longer an integral part of the team with only three completed games. Between 1991 and 1993 he was still part of the squad, but no longer played for the Society. This also meant the end of his professional career, even if he went on to run for his former club Saint-Dié. Léopoldès had set himself the goal of helping the now under-class club in its return to higher leagues. He did not succeed, however, so that he finally ended his active career in 1996.
Coaching career
After three years without any activity in football, Léopoldès became the assistant to coach Bruno Scipion in 1999 at the fourth-class FC Mulhouse , with whom he had already played in Caen and Paris. For a little over a year in 2001 he took over the coaching position of a small club from Dannemarie . He then retired from football for a long time, before taking over responsibility for a lower-class club from Brunstatt from 2008 to 2010 . In 2011 he was hired as assistant coach of the Alsatian fifth division club AS Illzach-Modenheim.
